For over twenty-five years, Reading Horizons has been revolutionizing the way people learn to read. We premiered in 1984 with a computer-based phonics program for elementary students based on the effective Discover Intensive Phonics for Yourself (DIP) method. We soon saw the need for a sequential, basic reading program for secondary and adult students and in 1987, we were awarded a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) grant from the federal Department of Education to develop the Discover Intensive Phonics software for non-reading adults. The result was Reading Horizons.
